Frequently Asked Questions

Why is using toothpaste on a pimple a bad idea? +

Toothpaste contains drying agents like baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and menthol. While it might dry out the spot, it causes chemical burns, severe irritation, redness, and dark marks (PIH) on facial skin.

Can physical scrub face washes clear active acne? +

No. Scrubbing active acne pop the pustules, spreading bacteria across the face and causing more breakouts. The abrasive particles also damage the skin barrier, increasing redness and irritation.

What should I do if my skin burns when I apply moisturizer? +

Burning is a key sign of a damaged skin barrier. Stop using all active treatments (salicylic acid, retinoids, scrubs). Simplify your routine to a gentle cleanser, a bland ceramide moisturizer, and mineral sunscreen until healing is complete.

Is lemon juice a safe natural remedy for fading dark spots? +

No. Lemon juice is highly acidic (pH 2), which burns the skin and strips the protective barrier. It also contains psoralens, chemicals that make the skin extremely sensitive to sunlight, leading to severe burns and hyperpigmentation.
